I think I figured out why women go through menopause as they get older.
I know menopause is a frustrating time for women, with the hot sweats, hormones all over the place, mood swings and more, but just think what could happen if women didn’t go through menopause and could still get pregnant later in life. I think this short story ought to illustrate the problem…
So with all the new technology to aid in fertility, a 65 year old woman recently gave birth to a baby.
When she was discharged from the hospital and went home, her relatives came to visit her.
“May we see the new baby?” one of the relatives asked.
“Not yet”, said the 65 year old mother, “you can see her soon”.
Thirty minutes had passed, they all had another cup of tea and then another relative asked, “May we see the new baby now?”
“Not yet”, said the mother.
After another half hour or so had elapsed, they asked again, “May we see the baby now?”
“No”, replied the mother.
Getting really impatient by this time as you might well imagine, the relatives all asked her, “Well, when CAN we see the baby?”
“When it cries”, she told them.
“When it cries?” they demanded. “Why do we have to wait until it cries?”
The mother replied, “Because, I forgot where I put it”.
