A policeman caught Murphy driving his taxi down the road in Galway and he was driving well over the speed limit.
Once he had managed to overtake him, which was no mean feat on the winding country roads of Ireland, the policeman stopped and got out of his car.
The policeman walked up to Murphy’s car, signalled him to wind down the window and asked him, “You were doing ninety five miles an hour down that country lane. What the hell do you think you are doing?”
Murphy answered, “Well, you see officer, my brakes failed about three miles back and I was rushing home before I caused an accident.”
