It is the middle of August and it’s holiday season in the South of France and there are lots of tourists visiting the region from all over the world.
However, in a small town on the French coast, it is raining, so there is not too much business happening. With tourism being so quiet because of the wet weather, even though it’s the peak holiday season, everyone is heavily in debt and many businesses are struggling to keep their heads above water.
Fortunately, a rich Russian tourist enters the foyer of the small local hotel, asks for a room and puts a €100 note on the reception counter.
He takes a room key and goes to inspect a large room located up the stairs on the third floor.
The hotel owner takes the bank note in hurry and rushes to his meat supplier to whom he owes €100.
The butcher takes the money and races to his supplier to pay his debt.
The wholesaler rushes to the farmer to pay €100 for pigs he purchased some time ago.
The farmer triumphantly gives the €100 note to a local prostitute who gave him her services on credit.
The prostitute goes quickly to the hotel, as she owed the hotel for her hourly room use to entertain her clients.
At that moment, the rich Russian comes down to reception and informs the hotel owner that the proposed room is unsatisfactory.
He takes his €100 back and leaves.
There has been no profit or income in the town, but nobody is any longer in debt and the people in the small town look optimistically towards their future.
Something to think about isn’t it.
