The new Royal Navy recruit had just passed the physical examination that is required as part of the enlistment process to become a sailor.
The doctor asked him, “Why do you want to join the Navy son?”
The new recruit replied, “My father thought it would be a good career for me, Sir”.
The doctor then asked, “I see, and what does your father do for a living?”
The new recruit answered, “He is an Army Major, Sir”.
