Don’t you just love those family dinner parties where all the family and their friends are invited and everyone gets a chance to catch up with friends and relatives that they haven’t seen in a long time.
Unfortunately, with children around, you never quite know what might happen and sometimes the unexpected does happen, much to everyone’s embarrassment.
This is for all of us who have children or grandchildren. Can’t you just see this Happening!
So a friend of mine recently hosted a dinner party for his family and invited everyone from far and wide to come. There would be close family, distant family, family friends, friends of friends and even the neighbours would be there. Everyone was encouraged to bring all their children as well, it would be a fabulous gathering.
All during the sit down dinner, one four year old girl just stared at her uncle who was sitting across from her at the table.
The little girl could hardly eat her food for staring at him.
The uncle, aware that she kept staring at him, wondered what was wrong with his appearance and it was starting to worry him, so much in fact that if put him off his food.
He checked his tie, felt his face for food, patted his hair in place, but nothing stopped her from staring at him.
He tried his best to just ignore her, but finally his curiosity was too much for him.
He asked her “Why are you staring at me Frances?”
Everyone at the table had noticed her behavior and the table went quiet while the guests waited for her response to see what it would be.
The little girl said, “It’s ok uncle Murphy, I’m just waiting to see how you drink like a fish”.
