An English man had wanted to be a cowboy ever since he was a young lad.
He had watched all the Western movies and television shows about Wagon Trains and ranching, about being attacked by Indians and the good old 7th Cavalry, and now that he was in his twenties, more than anything else in the world, he knew that he wanted to be a cowboy.
Having saved up his money, he travelled out to Arizona, where eventually he found a rancher who took pity on him and gave the young man a job as a trainee cowboy.
On his first day, the young man woke up in the bunk house, and the rancher gave him his first lesson in being a cowboy.
“This”, said the rancher, showing him a rope, “is a lariat. We use it to catch cows”.
“Ah ok, I see”, said the young man, trying to seem knowledgeable as he examined the lariat. “And what do you use for bait?”
