A man who was serving time in prison received a letter from his wife, in which she wrote, “I have decided to plant some lettuce in the back garden. When is the best time to plant lettuce?”
The prisoner, knowing that the prison guards read all the mail that came in, replied to his wife in a letter that said, “Whatever you do, DO NOT touch the back garden! That is where I hid all the gold”.
A week or so later, the prisoner received another letter from his wife that said, “You wouldn’t believe what happened. Some men came to the house with shovels and dug up the whole back garden”.
The prisoner then wrote another letter to his wife, “NOW is the best time to plant the lettuce! The garden has been dug over and weeded”.
