It was a record breaking hot sunny day in County Galway, Ireland and Murphy decided to go sunbathing naked on the beach at Dogs Bay in Connemara, the finest sandiest beach in the whole of County Galway.
For the sake of civility and to keep his private parts from getting sunburned, he placed his hat over them while he lay on his back and lay there, soaking up the suns rays on this unusually warm day for Ireland, a country known more for it’s wet and rainy days than for it’s sunshine.
Old Mrs O’Sullivan was taking a stroll along the beach and as she walked past Murphy she said with a laugh, “Murphy, if you were a gentleman you’d lift your hat when a woman walked past”.
Murphy raised an eyebrow, looked at her and replied, “If you were better looking and 20 years younger Mrs O’Sullivan, it would lift itself!”
