A new pastor was out paying a visit to the homes of his parishioners, because the bishop had decided that more parish visits would be a good idea to help boost the church congregation and of course to help with the church donations.
At one house that the pastor visited, it seemed obvious that someone was at home, but no answer came, despite the pastor knocking at the door repeatedly.
Therefore, he took out a business card and wrote “Revelations 3:20” on the back of the card and stuck it in the door.
When he was going through the offering the following Sunday, the pastor found that his card had been returned in the offering plate.
Added to his original note was this cryptic message, “Genesis 3:10”.
Reaching for his Bible to check out the citation, the pastor broke up in gales of laughter.
Revelations 3:20 begins “Behold, I stand at the door and knock”.
Genesis 3:10 reads, “I heard your voice in the garden and I was afraid for I was naked”.
Well it’s nice to know that one of his parishioners knew his Bible I guess and also had a sense of humor.
