Is Kylie Minogue Set To Become A Mango?

A number of new mango varieties have been developed in the Northern Territory in Australia, and the industry minister wants to name one of them after soap actress turned pop star Kylie Minogue.

With Kylie being the Australian “Princess Of Pop”, the minister said that it would be fitting to have a regional icon named after her.

The new varieties of mango are scheduled to be on the supermarket shelves by the end of 2012, and apparently a batch have been sent to Kylie Minogue for her to try.

No word at this point on whether she deems having a mango named after her to be an honour or not.

Prostitutes Ordered To Make Themselves Seen Or Be Fined

Well police have tried just about everything to stop prostitutes parading themselves on street corners, but in the city of Lleida near Catalonia in Spain, they have come up with a unique new idea.

Because these women standing on the street have become a traffic hazard, a law has been passed that requires pedestrians walking along the road after dark to wear brightly coloured bibs that have reflectors on them.

The city recently placed a ban on street prostitution, and so the night workers are now to be found just outside of the city limits, and are causing hazards on roundabouts, where they have been congregating.

This could be an interesting story to follow up, to see what the next few months brings.

Short Skirts Outlawed In Italian Town

Well still on the subject of sex, it seems that the mayor of the town of Castellammare di Stabia in the south of Italy is causing an uproar by introducing a new law that bans “very scanty clothing”.

Women who wear skirts that are too short or necklines that are too low and show too much cleavage, or men with jeans that are worn too low, will be fined.

The law was introduced in an attempt to prevent antisocial behaviour, and as well as the clothing laws, it prevents sunbathing in public as well as playing football in the street, which is a common Italian pastime.

Apparently miniskirts are not included in the ban, unless they are so short that they cease to become a skirt and fail to cover up the wearer’s underwear.

Again this is a story that will no doubt have some repercussions, especially knowing how red blooded Italian men must feel about this.

Nine House Burglaries Committed By Six Children

Nine burglaries that had been committed since April and which had the police puzzled, were finally solved this week, when the offenders were identified and arrested.

It turns out that the burglaries, which took place in the city of Palatka in Florida, were not committed by adults, but by children aged between 10 and 15, with the police expecting to make a further 4 arrests in conjunction with these crimes.

Most of the break-ins were done during daylight, and done by kicking in the back door of the homes.

Thousands of dollars of property was stolen from these homes, including computers, cameras, coin collections, lewellery and watches, plus at least four guns.

The most disturbing thing is however that when the boys were questioned by the police, they didn’t seem to be aware that they had done anything wrong.

Because they didn’t hurt anyone, and nobody was home at the time of the break-in, they didn’t see this as a home invasion, and said that “we just stole their stuff while they weren’t looking”.

It’s a sad world that we live in where children of this age haven’t been taught by their parents what is wrong and what is right. It’s problems like this and worse that we face in the years to come, in many ways due to the fact that there is little teaching of morals in today’s society.

Convenience Store Robber Gets Dressing Down

Well the news from Florida is often bizarre, and here is yet another item to make you wonder.

A 16 year old boy robbed a convenience store in DeLand in Volusia County, then went on to rob a second store, using a bottle of salad dressing as a weapon.

This time however, the store owner pointed a handgun at the would be robber, and called in the cops.

At the first store, the robber helped himself to $468 in cash from the DeLand gas station, after the owner refused to hand it over.

Two and a half hours later the offender went into the Friendly Way convenience store and raised the bottle of salad dressing as if it was a gun.

The robber told the police that he needed money to buy jewellery and drugs, and was arrested on two charges of felony robbery.

I suppose it’s a good thing that he did not splatter the owners with a mixture of flour and water, because then he could be facing charges of battery.

Shoplifters Leave Children Behind

A couple in their twenties were arrested at the Sears store in Westfield Mall in Hillsborough County in Florida after being caught shoplifting.

First, the man, who had a two year old girl in his shopping cart, tried to outrun the store security guards as he left the store without paying for his items. The shopping cart overturned however, causing the girl to fall on the ground, and leaving her with scratches on her back.

The man kept on running, leaving the girl behind with the security guards, and he was apprehended by the police soon after.

Meantime, the woman was still in the store, with an 8 month old baby in a car carrier, and she was busy shopping for baby items.

When she found out that the man had been arrested, she tried to run out of the store using the opposite exit, but seciruty were waiting for her, and she was also arrested.

The man is being held in jail and is charged with child neglect, felony theft, resisting arrest and parole violation. The woman was released after posting a $4,500 bail bond.

This is just another story of two people who should not be allowed to have children.

Droopy Drawer Incident Causes Whole Family To Be Arrested

Five members of a family were arrested at a South Florida shopping mall in December 2007 and have subsequently sued the Palm Beach Police Department.

It all began when a 20 year old went to the mall with his pants hanging down and his underwear on show, which was in breach of a trespass warning that he had received 4 months earlier.

One thing led to another, and the whole family got involved, and were subsequently arrested.

The case went to court last week, and two members of the family were found not guilty of the charges filed against them, and charges were dropped against three others.

I guess the officers went a little overboard at the time, however it still puzzles me how people can think that this look is cool, when it’s about as stupid as stupid can look. Seeing people waddle like a 3 year old with their pants hanging down, and one hand trying to hold them up, well it does look ridiculous. Still, if you look on the bright side, it does make them rather easier to catch.
