Noisy Wheelie Bin Betrays Beer Thief

A thief in Northern Territory in Australia raided a house and stole some beer, wine and a bottle of liqueur from a fridge.

He packaged his ill gotten gains into their wheelie bin, and attempted to make his getaway, but the noise of the bottles rattling around in the bin caused the house owner to wake up.

He called the police and gave a good description of the thief, who was picked up several streets away, still towing the wheelie bin.

Plastic Bottle Boat Sets Sail To Sydney

A boat that is made up entirely of plastic bottles, aptly called “Plastiki” after the legendary raft “Kontiki” built by Thor Heyerdahl, has set sail from San Francisco on a voyage across the Pacific to Sydney in Australia.

The eleven thousand mile journey is to help spread the awareness about pollution in the world’s oceans and will go past the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, a sea of waste that is about five times the size of Britain.

Scientists Make A Real Cloak Of Invisibility

This sounds just like something out of a Harry Potter book or other science fiction story, but German scientists say they have created a three-dimensional invisibility cloak.

The product that these scientists have created has been called a “metamaterial”, which is used to cloak an object. These “metamaterials” have the ability to change the way that light bounces off an object, making light bend around it, thus rendering it invisible.

Should this turn out to be a practical product to produce, you can only begin to imagine the uses. The paparazzi for a start would be dying to get hold of it, just to peek into Angelina Jolie’s bedroom. Imagine being able to spy on your other half by sneaking into the back seat of the car before they take a trip somewhere. Imagine their shock when your head gets in the way of their view of the rear window and they think they have seen a ghost. Imagine the newspaper headlines after the crash…

Singing Sailors Set Whopping Record Deal

It seems that a group of sailors from Cornwall in the South West of England have been given a record contract to sing sea shanties.

Universal Music, who’s label includes Take That, Lady Gaga and Amy Winehouse, is going to help them to release an album, and the group are also set to appear at the Glastonbury Music Festival in England this summer.

The 10 fishermen, who are mostly in their 50’s, have been singing together for the last 15 years.

Well I suppose it will be a case of Hey there and up she rises, Sail Bonnie Boat and Bobby Shafto on CD for Granddad’s Christmas present this year. One less gift to worry about…

Queen’s Corgi Friendly Car Is Up For Sale

A memorabilia dealer is selling a personalized Daimler Majestic V8 that belonged to Queen Elizabeth II.

A secure phone link to 10 Downing Street and the Home Office has been removed, but the Queens special handbag holder and magazine tray holders to prevent the corgi’s from getting hurt if they slid off a seat are still there.

I can just imagine Her Majesty driving at 80mph around the narrow streets of Windsor, taking bends to fast that the corgi’s couldn’t stop from sliding across the leather seats into the doors.

New Hospital Gown Has Snaps Down The Side

Apparently a designer in England has created a revolutionary hospital gown that has snaps down the sides, instead of the traditional ties at the back, which invariably led to the patient’s backside being fully exposed.

A group of designers were each given £25,000 ($37,500) to come up with a new design.

I wonder how many women patients could have done the same for free, given the material and a sewing machine?
