I was hanging out in the park with a friend of mine, when we saw a woman walk past, with a nose ring attached to an earring by a chain.
My friend stared as she walked past us, then said to me, “Wouldn’t the chain rip out every time she turned her head?”
I had to explain to him that a person’s nose and ear remain the same distance apart no matter which way the head is turned.
You know what friends, I had to put my thumb on my ear, my finger on my nose and turn my head just to see if it was true, and then the penny dropped!
Of course turning your head isn’t going to affect the position of any part of your face relative to any other part, but sometimes it takes a while for things like that to sink in. Did anyone else have to prove this to themselves, or is it just me?
