Murphy went on a two month business trip that was to take him all over Europe, so he left his cat for safe keeping with his brother, Seamus.
Three days before he returned, Murphy called his brother to check how things were doing back home.
The first thing that Murphy asked his brother was naturally “How is my cat doing?”
Seamus replied, “He’s Dead”.
Murphy, in a state of sadness and shock, angrily responded with, “He’s Dead! What do you mean he’s Dead? I loved that cat. Couldn’t you think of a nicer way to tell me that my cat was dead? I’m leaving here to come home in three days, you could have broke the news to me easier. You could have told me today that she got out of the house or something. Then when I called before I left you could have told me that you found her but she was up on the roof and you were having trouble getting her down. Then when I called you from the airport you could have told me that the Fire Department was there and scared her off the roof and the cat died when it hit the ground”.
Seamus replied, “I’m sorry Murphy, you’re right, that was insensitive, sure I won’t let it happen again”.
Murphy, who had calmed down a bit by then, asked “Alright, alright, forget about it. Anyway, how is Mom doing?”
Seamus answered, “She’s up on the roof and we’re having trouble getting her down”.
