Misuse Of Funds

While it’s only a joke, I think many of us are aware of real life situations where similar things to this have taken place all over the world.

In some cases, there have been even worse misuse of funds.

Some years ago a small rural town in Spain twinned with a similar town in Greece.

Naturally, it wasn’t long before the Mayor of the Greek town visited the Spanish town.

When he saw the palatial mansion that belonged to the Spanish mayor, he wondered how he could afford such a house.

The Spanish Mayor said to the Greek Mayor: “You see that bridge over there? The EU gave us a grant to build a two-lane bridge, but by building a single lane bridge with traffic lights at either end this house could be built”.

The following year it was the turn of the Spanish Mayor to visit the Greek town.

He was absolutely amazed at the Greek Mayor’s house, which had gold taps, marble floors, it was marvelous. Whatever luxury you could think of, this palacial residence had at least one!

When the Spanish Mayor asked how all of this could be afforded, the Greek Mayor replied: “You see that bridge over there?”

The Spanish Mayor replied; “No.”
