A famous art collector is walking through the city, when he notices a mangy looking cat who is lapping milk from a saucer in the doorway of a store.
The art collector does a double take, when he recognizes that the saucer is extremely old. It’s a very valuable collectors item, a rare antique.
So he walks casually into the store and offers to buy the mangy looking cat for two dollars.
The store owner replies, “I’m sorry sir, but the cat isn’t for sale”.
The art collector says to the store owner, “Please, I need a hungry cat around the house to catch mice. I will pay you twenty dollars for that cat”.
The store owner says, “For twenty dollar the cat is yours” and he hands over the cat to the art collector.
The art collector continues, “I don’t suppose for the twenty dollars that you could throw in that old saucer. The cat is used to it and it will save me from having to get a dish”.
The store owner says, “Sorry my friend, but that is my lucky saucer. So far this week I have sold 68 cats!”
