I work for an insurance company and one day a woman called us as she wanted to report an accident and file an insurance claim.
All too often this type of call is pretty much the same for me, day in, day out, but I had reason to remember this one in particular and always chuckle when I think of it.
The woman asked me if her insurance rates would go up as a result of the accident.
“Our underwriting department determines that”, I told her.
Then I asked the woman for her license number.
Verifying her information, I asked, “NMF? Is that N as in Nancy, M as in Mary, and F as in Frank?”
“Well… yes”, she said. “But could you please tell your underwriters that it’s also N as in Not, M as in My, and F as in fault?”
