History Repeats Itself

Isn’t it funny how sometimes, especially when it comes to politics, history repeats itself.

In this case, something that was written in the past applies equally as much to something that is occurring in the present time.

The joke below was sent to me by a friend in 2006, four years after George Bush had been President of the United States. If you read this without that prior knowledge, other than a couple of facts, you would find that they apply almost exactly to the current situation the USA finds itself in.

Have a read and see what you thinkā€¦

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued a warning about a new virulent strain of Sexually Transmitted Disease. The disease is contracted through dangerous and high-risk behavior.

The disease is called Gonorrhea Lectim and pronounced “gonna re-elect him”.

Many victims contracted it in 2004, after having been screwed for the past four years. Cognitive characteristics of individuals infected include: anti-social personality disorders, delusions of grandeur with messianic overtones, extreme cognitive dissonance, inability to incorporate new information, pronounced xenophobia and paranoia, inability to accept responsibility for own actions, cowardice masked by misplaced bravado, uncontrolled facial smirking, ignorance of geography and history, tendencies towards evangelical theocracy, categorical all-or-nothing behavior.

Naturalists and epidemiologists are amazed at how this destructive disease originated only a few years ago from a bush found in Texas.

Was I right? Has history repeated itself, at least as far as this joke goes? The only thing I think that is different is that it’s much worse this time and it’s no longer a joke. Please feel free to leave us a comment, there is a Comments section at the bottom of the page.
