An old man, a boy and a donkey were on their way into town.
The boy rode on the donkey and the old man walked hy his side.
As they went down the road, they passed some people who remarked it was a shame the old man was walking while the boy was riding the donkey.
So, the man and boy thought that maybe the critics were right and they changed positions.
A little while later, they passed some more people that remarked, “What a shame, that old man is making that little boy walk”.
They then decided it might be better if they both walked into town.
Soon they passed some more people, who thought that they were stupid to walk when they had a decent donkey to ride.
So, they both rode the donkey.
Now they passed some people that shamed them by saying how awful it was to put such a heavy load on a poor donkey.
The boy and man thought they were probably right, so they decided to carry the donkey.
As they approached the town and crossed the bridge, they lost their grip on the animal and it fell into the river and drowned.
The moral of this story? Oh come on, stories like this always have a moral and this one is no exception, it’s a groaner!
If you try to please everyone, you might as well kiss your ass goodbye.
