Although my fiancee and I had planned to get married in New Hampshire, she she was really keen to add a touch of home to our wedding, from the state of Kansas where she grew up .
My fiancee explained this to a friend who came over for dinner and told him that we were planning to have wheat rather than rice thrown in the air after the ceremony.
Our friend thought this over for a moment, while my fiancee went to the kitchen to get us some drinks.
Then he whispered to me solemnly, “Well, I guess it’s a good thing she’s not from Idaho.”
(If you aren’t from the USA, or at least not from the Midwest, you might not get this joke. So, to explain, in Kansas they grow a lot of wheat. In Idaho, they grow a lot of potatoes!)
