Even though our wedding was being held in New Hampshire, I really wanted to add a touch of home from where I grew up in the state of Kansas to the wedding.
My fiancee tried explaining this to a friend, saying that we were planning to have wheat rather than rice thrown after the ceremony.
Our friend thought about this for a moment.
Then, he said solemnly, “Well, I guess it’s a good thing she’s not from Idaho”.
(If you aren’t from the USA, or at least not from the Midwest, you might not get this joke. So, to explain, in Kansas they grow a lot of wheat. In Idaho, they grow a lot of potatoes!)
