Unknown to his wife, a wealthy man had a secret affair with an Italian woman which carried on for several years.
One night, while they were in bed together, the Italian woman told her lover that she was pregnant.
Not wanting to ruin his reputation or his marriage, he agreed that he would pay her a large sum of money if she would go to Italy to secretly have the child. If she stayed in Italy to raise the child, he would also provide child support until the child turned 18.
The Italian woman agreed, but asked how she would be able to let him know when the baby was born.
To keep it discrete, he told her to just simply mail him a post card, and write “Spaghetti” on the back. He would then arrange for the child support payments to begin.
One day, about 9 months later, the man came home from the office to find a confused wife.
His wife said, “Honey, you received a very strange postcard today, it came from Italy”.
“Oh”, her husband said, looking surprised but also trying to look as if he had no idea what this could be. “Just give it to me and I’ll explain it, he said”.
His wife handed him the postcard and watched as her husband read it, turned white and fainted.
On the front of the postcard was a picture of Rome, but on the back was written: “Spaghetti, Spaghetti, Spaghetti. Two with meatballs, one without!”
