Roger had been spending so much time working, he thought it might be nice to buy a little gift for his wife to show her that he did appreciate her, even though she hadn’t seen much of him lately.
So, on the way home from the office, he called into the shopping mall, walked into a department store and went up to the beauty department.
He told the girl on the cosmetics counter what he wanted.
“How about some perfume?” she suggested.
Roger thought that might be a good idea, so the cosmetics clerk went off and came back with a nice bottle of perfume.
“This bottle of perfume is $50”, she said to him.
“That’s a bit much”, Roger said, so she returned with a smaller bottle of perfume which had a price tag of $30.
“That’s still quite a bit”, Roger complained.
Getting a little frustrated, the cosmetics clerk brought out a tiny $15 bottle of perfume.
“What I mean”, said Roger, “is I’d like to see something really cheap”.
The cosmetics clerk handed him a mirror.
