A doctor, an engineer and a lawyer were discussing who among them belonged to the oldest of the three professions represented.
The doctor thought for a minute and then said to the others, “Do you remember when on the sixth day, God took a rib from Adam and fashioned Eve? Well, that made him the first surgeon. Therefore, medicine is the oldest profession”.
The engineer pondered over what the doctor had said, thought for a minute and replied, “But, before that, God created the heavens and earth from chaos and confusion. Surely that makes him the first engineer, which must make engineering an older profession than medicine”.
The lawyer, who had been carefully listening to both of their arguments, then spoke up.
“Yes”, he said, “I take your points, but who do you think created all of the chaos and confusion in the first place?”
